Dr. Dean Allen has over 20 years of clinical experience as a practitioner and health clinic owner. He received his doctorate in from Parker University in 1998 and completed a Master’s Program in Functional Medicine from the University of Western States in Oregon. He has personally witnessed firsthand how Functional Medicine has healed his patients and changed their lives.
Before opening his Functional Medicine practice, Dr. Allen invested years as a successful chiropractor helping thousands achieve better health. However, as stress and fatigue started affecting his health, and his family members received various diagnoses, Dr. Allen began researching how he could better help them. It was then that the concept of Functional Medicine came across his path and changed his life.
He immediately began applying the basic principles of Functional Medicine to his own life and his family. He closely watched his results and theirs as they started the healing journey of overcoming the glooming labels of autism, dyslexia, asthma, IBS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other autoimmune diseases. These very personal challenges were catalysts in Dr. Allen’s choice to pursue adding Functional Medicine to his practice. Rest assured, Dr. Allen understands the struggles of his patients since he has lived through them himself.
His completed Master’s program has furthered his ability to provide better care and help his patients, by specifically including Functional Medicine principles in his practice. Implementing lifestyle changes such as nutrition, stress management, and gut health is the cornerstone that allows everyone to achieve their highest potential.
Dr. Allen believes that your diagnoses are not your destiny. He believes that you should have autonomy and control over your health and your body. Overall, Dr. Allen believes in listening, compassion, education, and support! He will be there every step of the way to guide you on your journey to healing and optimal health.

Haley Young has been treating Functional Medicine patients for over 3 years, helping them change their lives through holistic means of healing and breaking them out of the cycle of disease. She believes in a holistic approach to nutrition and wellness by treating the body as a whole. Starting out as a Functional Medicine nutritionist with her roots in clinical nutrition, Haley developed her own healing protocols, diet plans and detoxes to help address the root causes of disease for her patients. As a graduate of Kansas State University she holds her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Human Nutrition with an emphasis in business management. Haley has worked in various healthcare settings educating adults, children, and community shelters in need to help them change their lives through nutrition therapy.
“Over the course of my time working in hospitals, I realized that my work was to manage patients’ symptoms rather than healing them. For instance, in the hospitals we measured tube feedings for critically ill patients. I was counting carbs for diabetics but giving them graham crackers and grilled cheese sandwiches. I was limiting caffeine and salt for cardiac patients but giving them foods like garlic bread, rice pudding, and jell-o. We may have effectively controlled their blood sugar or blood pressure at the moment, but not doing anything for their gut health or inflammation. We weren’t teaching them how to heal and thrive on a metabolic level. Our meals, just like medications, were causing other “side effects” or even worse, leading them towards other long-term chronic problems. I realized you can’t just look at the surface numbers and categorize each patient into a special diet based on that. This realization is what led me to break out of the mold of the dietetic industry… and find Functional Medicine.”
At Grapevine Functional Medicine, Haley has been able to help patients heal themselves, get off medications, and improve their blood work. Utilizing various diagnostic tools such as specialty labs, allergy testing, stress tests, and more, Haley helps to customize a result-oriented program based on each patient’s goals and unique physiology. Being involved in the ever changing world of science and wellness is her happy place, as she loves interpreting lab work, research, and implementing new testing and procedures. In her role as Clinical Director she oversees the treatment and success of every patient and the clinic as a whole.

Gaby is our Functional Medicine Family Nurse Practitioner. Her role in our clinic helps us address primary care concerns with patients in a holistic manner while supporting the patients' goal of weaning off (or avoiding) medication. Her unique background of allopathic medicine and functional medicine is extremely useful in helping patients manage/improve their health conditions with interventions other than medication.
In our clinic, Gaby orders various Functional Medicine treatments for our patients such as IV therapy, vitamin injections, allergy treatment, and more. She clinically assesses our complex cases, providing a more holistic perspective that influences each patients' treatment plans.
Gaby graduated from Texas Woman's University to attain her Nurse Practitioner (NP) credentials. She later graduated from the School of Applied Functional Medicine to be a Functional Medicine Health Consultant.
With a past of GI issues, multiple medical providers, expensive lab workups, multiple rounds of antibiotic treatments, and more... Gaby began her quest to discover holistic medicine. The deeper her research took her, the more she realized the harm of many medications more than their good.
"It’s amazing that with all the medical providers I was working with, how none of them were looking into my lifestyle, stress level or diet. Once these were finally addressed, my GI issues subsided along with many other health benefits I never thought possible."
Gaby puts in the time to construct a customized plan for each client alongside Dr. Allen. Together, they form a unique clinical team.
